In the words of Hughie Louis

So this is it.
One month, a link on the cringe, and not a single answer as to who wants to play the game I am making. That speaks pretty loud and clear.
I'm deleting my game blog.

Actually, it doesn't. Objectively speaking.

I think it was a matter of timing. When you posted we had just started the new game with Scott and work got very, very busy. And you didn't just ask for a vote of yay or nay, but discussion about characters and the like. I looked at it and put it aside until I had time to give it some proper thought, but never quite got back to it.

Plus, like I said, we just started a new game with Scott. He's talked about it possibly becoming a major campaign in the future. Eric's been building anticipation for his running a campaign after graduation. Nate has said he'd like to run something. In theory I'd like to play them all, but in reality I probably only have time for one game at a time. So if you want to know if I'm interested, the answer is yes. If you want a firm commitment, I think we need to know a little bit more about your plans. You said a few sketchy things on the blog (I think, I tried to go back a take another look, but . . . ), but a fuller conversation in person would be much more helpful. And definitely nothing before September since I'm committed to Scott's game until then.

Actually, all I said in the post was to let me know if you wanted to play or not. It was in the first paragraph asking yay or nay. I said and let me know what kind of character you would like to play if you knew.
All I really wanted to know was who was going to play and whether I needed to keep building for one group of adventurers or if I needed to start building for two.
I did what everyone asked me to do when I asked why no one was answering the blog. I reminded everyone at dinner with Eric. Everyone said they didn't have it bookmarked, so I put a link to it on the Cringe. I even sent out requests to the people who said they never got one. I sent them to everyone who wasn't currently a contributor from the first round of emails. No replies from those either.
All I wanted to know was who was even interested in playing.
I had the post up for a little over a month.
Not a single comment. No one else accepted the invites. So, from my point of view, from what I could see, no one was even looking.
So, tell me, what was I supposed to think? What would you do if you made something you were really excited about, and when you told your friends, they said they were really excited about it too, and then, when you ask who wants to participate, and you give plenty of time for an answer, you remind them and do everything they tell you to do to make sure they respond and let you know they want to be part of it, and every single one of them just blows it off, tell me, what would you do?

I didn't respond because I don't want to dedicate time to another game when I'm currently running one.

I know that I have to finish school, and I've got a baby at home. I can't commit to a game in the future at this point.

That said, I love running and playing d+d.

I'd highly suggest that you use an at least partially pre-made adventure or campaign. It's a shit-ton of work, even if you're using pre-made.

If you want to make your own world, it's cool and rewarding and all of that, but you can't expect people to get the same amount of enjoyment out of it as you put in, at least not at first. It's so time-consuming. Jason and I started a new world at one point, and spent immense amounts of time developing it, and I had to bow out. It's sitting around someplace, in some form. It's not easy shelving a big project.

Don't think because you didn't get any answers that that means we don't like you. That's taking it way to personally.

I know you all like me (at least I think you do... most of the time... when I'm not talking or doing anything... naked), I'm just bummed that no one could even say, in the very least, that in the future, schedules permitting, that maybe they might eventually want to play my game.
Or at the least, say something to the effect of, I'd like to but I can't, or... well, or anything. Period.
I know for a fact that Nate is down. Oh, and Nate, it's okay. Sshhhhhh. *rocking back and forth*
I'm not shelving the game. I'm still working on it (or trying to). The main thing I wanted to find out was how to set it up. I wanted to see if I needed to set up an idea I had for a 2 party system or just make it for one party. I've decided to do both, but make the 2 party thing optional and work it with Nate so we can do both or something.
I just thought that someone out there (besides Nate {it's okay, daddy's here shhhh}) might want to put some input in. Even if the input was, "I can't play, but I would still like to help because I am so good at DnD and you are such a n00b." *hand on their head*
So this is not a "rocks fall, game dies" thing. It's a "rocks fall, blog dies, and Dave will just try and go it alone and hope things work out and maybe once in a while ask for some help on a question or two."
Nate. You need to let go now. I'm trying to publish the comment. Dude. I can't breathe. Nate. Dude. Does someone have a crowbar in their bag of holding?

Here's a handy rule of thumb-- at least when it comes to me. I'm notoriously bad about responding to shit, e-mails, phone calls, gas bills... you name it. And I definitely fall into the trap Chris described wherein I look at something, think "Oh, I should respond to that," but then get distracted by some shiny web object (porn). I'm really busy right now (porn). And tend to put things off and not really think about how long something has been sitting on my to-do list (except porn). And no amount of reminding is going to get me to speed that process up. It doesn't work for Ameren UE, it's not going to work for you.

That being said, here's that rule of thumb I promised. Absent specific dates, etc., if it has to do with D&D, please consider my silence an indication of interest.

Actually, I really honestly hope that you continue building your campaign. My earlier silence notwithstanding.
