I almost posted this on Vague Notions until I remembered that I had a gaming blog. :)
This was my first game purchase for the PS3 (I had seen it bundled with the PS3 at a different Best Buy the week before I bought mine, but of course there wasn't one when I was ready to make my purchase). Long story short: this game is every bit as good as people had said it was. It got rave reviews when it was released and is still considered by many to be one of the very best titles available on the console. I concur. I am so in love with this game, and I can't wait to play Uncharted 2, which by all reports is even better (I have seen the graphics on Uncharted 2 and they're amazing).
Playing this game is like watching a really fantastic adventure movie. It is addictive in all of it's pulpy goodness. The really amazing thing is that, for the first time that I can remember, I'm actually looking forward to cutscenes. I've always found them annoying in the past, but in this game I can't wait to hear the dialog and see how the story is going to advance. In fact, not only am I looking forward to cutscenes, I'm upset that there aren't more of them!

Careful, you're turning into my kind of gamer. ;)
But, yes, I've heard lots of amazing things about the Uncharted series.
Well, I have made the transition from PC to console, so there is a real possibility that I am turning into your kind of gamer. I'll probably try out some Japanesey RPG's in the future.
Here are my game purchases to date:
Uncharted (of course)
Assassin's Creed
Little Big Planet (came bundled with my second controller)
NCAA Football 2010
I've heard good things about Assassin's Creed, too. LBP is fun, but the novelty wore off pretty quickly for me. Can't say a thing about the football game, as sports games are so not my thing.
Lummox is enjoying the hell out of Bioshock, so if you're into FPSes, you might give that a try. It's pretty creepy awesome, and if it didn't make me motion sick to watch, I'd probably be enjoying it alongside him.
As far as Japanesey RPGs go, I'm really hoping the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia gets imported. XBox 360 got it, but the PS3 version is expanded. I'm desperately intrigued by what I've heard.
Didn't you guys upgrade to the PS3 already? I'm interested in The Valkyria Chronicles. IGN named it one of the 20 best for the system. And I've heard nothing but great things about Bioshock since it came out--it's definitely on my to play list.
Yes, we got a PS3 for Christmas. (And a Wii, recently, but we don't have anything for it, yet.)
I've also heard excellent things about Valkyria Chronicles, and from what I know, it sounds like something you'd really enjoy.
I'm piqued by Xenoblade (for Wii) should it migrate this direction, but only because it's by the creator of Xenogears/Xenosaga. Which means a trippy, LSD-inspired plot, which could either be remarkable or incredibly stupid, depending.
Personally, though, I'm biting my nails waiting for The Last Guardian. If you haven't played ICO or Shadow of the Colossus, I feel for your missed experience.
In one last flash of ill-advised ps3 spending I picked up GTA IV and Bioshock the other day.
Oh. My. God. Bioshock is awesome. The graphics are amazing, even on the crappy old TV I've been playing on, and the atmosphere is just perfect. I'm still getting used to playing a shooter with a pad instead of the good ole mouse and keyboard combo, but so far, I'm having fun.
Excellent. Are you saving or harvesting the little sisters?
I haven't decided yet.
Lummox played as a nice guy the first time through, and is replaying it and killing them.
I bought Bioshock 2 for him, and it has online multiplayer. I haven't looked at the original to see if that option is there, too. If so, you boys should schedule some time to kill each other.
Hey, look. Someone else is posting!
Have you seen the Bioshock Infinite trailer?
